In “Concrete Metamorphosis,” the artist collective room69 muses on the fractured paradoxes of concrete, a material as mundane as it is monumental. The installation stands as a repurposing, interrogating the essence of this material body, especially in the time defined as the Anthropecene: humans have become the determining factor for a global ecosystem, environmental impacts are interwoven with technological advancement. This is a speculative inquiry into the materiality of our world, and how time, material and human expansion shape us.

For their latest hybrid installation, commissioned by das weisse haus, room69 responds to the idea around a reformatting of archives. How does archival material sit within the expandable walls of virtual space? How does virtuality situate itself in the cultural temporality of das weisse haus?

For their first US exhibition, room69 draws their attention to the ecological and spiritual essence of the forest. The collective has mapped, scanned and virtualized Austria’s Donau Auen Nationalpark and extended the scans into a fragmented space coinciding with their relationship to technology, humanity and nature.

An exhibition by room69 in Los Angeles, USA at the LA Artcore Gallery in Cooperation with the National Park Donauauen in Austria and supported by the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

For the fifth edition of wrong.biennale, the biggest international biennial for digital art, room69 presented the physical embassy in Vienna:
nowhere in particular as part of the multilevel exhibition E.N.D.E.(experience near death experience).
 The exhibition culminates under the terms overstimulation / overstimulation and extreme highs and lows, linking and complementing a variety of practices dealing with these experiences. E.n.d.e. explores notions of living in a time when reality and virtuality seem to merge, giving rise to a new, globally connected world, linked by our desire for community.
15 international artists meditate on the oversimulation of possible futures in their practices ranging from sculptural phygital installations to speculative research-based bio-art and performances.

exhibited in June 2022 at Raum D in Q21, Museumsquartier Vienna, Austria

The classic 90s anime franchise Evangelion proposes a theory where humanity can overcome its bodily boundaries and unite their souls as one, brought onwards by mankind, a forcedstep in evolution. Drawing from this as a course of action for collective work, we will merge our individual practises together into one immersive room filling installation. Intertwining our skills, aesthetics, conceptual approaches and research.

		<description>about&#38;nbsp;room69 is an interdisciplinary artist-led collective developing new and progressive exhibition formats, new media arts and installation.The collective’s interests are characterised by common reflections on the complex relationship between artificial and natural worlds, socio-cultural contexts, mediating on hyper-connectivity and displaying their individual responses to notions of fluid networked systems. Using conceptual architectural strategies to create hybridized phygital environments that bring attention to their work, the collective use this playground to evaluate contemporary digital cultures.Each project room69 develops is an opportunity to deploy new creative tactics in playing, meshing, glitching, and re-contextualizing internet spaces as well as extending the analogue understanding.

The collective work as artists, curators, producers, and researchers, applying experimental and disruptive techniques to formulate a collaborative, open, collective-driven art practice. They operate independently, distributing roles rotationally in order to expand the definitions of artistic practice - each member has an equal and diverse function in operating the collective.

	Maximilian Prag is an interdisciplinary artist and designer testing contemporary visual and new media culture. Working with new media technology in between visual communication and art, he creates new formats of digital representation, virtual worlds, digital generative imagery and multimedia installations. He is interested in contemporary imagery, internet culture and experimenting with phygital experiences exploring new interactions in between our mixed realities, online and away from screens. The collective work, community and collaborations are important parts of his artistic practice, always engaging in projects outside of his individual practice, from music videos, stage design, live visuals, virtual exhibition design or fashion design. Maximilian is working as a 3D designer for the Vienna based media arts festival CIVA by sound:frame, which he accompanied from its inception and had an integral part in its conceptualization. He is currently studying Graphic Design at the University of Applied Arts living and working in Vienna.https://www.instagram.com/maximilianpragmaximilian@prag.at

	Josepha Edbauer is a multimedia artist; In her practice, contradictions are addressed and narrated through transdisciplinary room installations. The starting point are deconstructions of personal circumstances in different systems in which the artist is surrounded. Coming from an art historical background, questioning the mechanisms and structures of the art world is thus a recurring subject, as is visualizing digital phenomena in our analog society. The digital space and its structures are no less real than our analog world.Each object carries its own meaning, which results from the interplay. Josepha translates her analyses into materials that suggest new perspectives in their altered context. Materials carry the previous within them, and through their detachment from their socio-cultural context, are brought into new ones to express.Josepha studies Transmedia Art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna in the class of Brigitte Kowanz / Jakob Lena Knebl.https://josephaedbauer.comhttps://www.instagram.com/chosepha/chosepha@gmail.com

	Cristian Anutoiu is a transdisciplinary artist from Romania/Germany. Their practice negotiates concepts, fictions and contingencies between physical and digital realities. Reflecting from a queer background, the visual language crystallizes a fragmented world injected with a gentle magical realism. In this process, cross-realities become crucible for transporting ideas into a tangible reality and for expressing themselves through installative narratives. Constant experimentation with 3D software creates virtual worlds, installations that span time and space, and implicitly post-digital paintings. The artificial is juxtaposed with the organic to express fragility and opposition of human subjectivity and normativity. Through reinterpretations, 3D scans and kitsch, Cristian's practice moves between post-modern mysticism and digital magic.&#38;nbsp; In addition to studying Painting &#38;amp; Animation Film at the University of Applied Arts under Judith Eisler, Cristian is a founding member of the artist collective room69, which mediates contemporary intermedia formats through progressive exhibition formats. Cristian Anutoiu currently lives and works in Vienna, Austria.http://www.cristian-anutoiu.comhttps://www.instagram.com/b4cterija/cristianpaintings@yahoo.com

	Hannah Neckel based online as @cybervoid69 is a Transmedia Artist reimagining the future by merging online &#38;amp; offline worlds in aesthetic bliss. Her multimedia XXXperiences seduce into a dreamy hyper space where the digital sphere of the internet and the physical world merge.
The Internet as a utopian place of longing serves as the starting point for thedesire for freedom + community that manifests itself in the works and is generated in an interplay of online and offline footage.&#38;nbsp;The real space thereby becomes an extended virtual reality and a place of refuge that confronts user:inside with their own emotionality *~good vibes only~*
The aesthetics of the internet spill into the space as if from a glass, overflowing and overlapping, merging with the surrounding like the layers of a Photoshop file.

In her intermedia approach, 3D scans, symbols and aesthetics of digital subculture become aesthetic mood, online becomes physical practice, always searching for dialogues: between IRL and URL, between innovative technology and users, but above all between-human ~relatable~ emotions.&#38;nbsp; Hannah Neckel studies Transmedia Art at the University of Applied Arts in the class Brigitte Kowanz / Jakob Lena Knebl.https://hannahneckel.comhttps://www.instagram.com/cybervoid69/studio@hannahneckel.com

	Lukas Dworschak is a new media artist creating works that reimagine the body in its virtual extensions. Seeing digital space as an amplifier for the fluidity of our existence he explores new narratives of embodiment and identity through a seamless symbiosis of virtual and physical. Having a background in engineering he is also interested in how technology transforms the way we interact with our environments and augments our experiences and routines. Organic structures, machines and artificial entities unfold through different materials and processes and form installations which spread through a multilayered reality.https://www.instagram.com/luke___d/lukas.dworschak@gmx.at

	Brooklyn J. Pakathi (enby) is a media artist with an ongoing studio practice in Vienna. Much of their most recent work concerns itself with the language and materiality of emotion.
Sentimental longing, melancholy, and various other configurations of intimacy affirm their practice. The Vienna-based artist constructs objects, images and virtual spaces to connect and abstract the underlying architecture of these profound and complex&#38;nbsp; psychological forces. Pakathi also works as an independent curator and cultural producer. They work in actioning cultures of technology, developing inclusive and alternative definitions of the technological and using virtual space to deploy artistic practice and discourse outside of the modern colonial world system.&#38;nbsp;https://brooklynpakathi.artstudio@brooklynpakathi.com

	&#60;img width="2000" height="3000" width_o="2000" height_o="3000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/c9b7a936c2e71c9d794fd7d6d53cfcac8ec39c198d04805e5cfc42559f09538e/Room69_Concrete-Metamorphosis_phMariaBelova-11.jpg" data-mid="204801493" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/c9b7a936c2e71c9d794fd7d6d53cfcac8ec39c198d04805e5cfc42559f09538e/Room69_Concrete-Metamorphosis_phMariaBelova-11.jpg" /&#62;

For Concrete Metamorphosis, room69 employs a mix of 4-channel video, embedded by a soundscape that lingers on the surface, projection and reactive light to create a spatial dialogue. Each element of the exhibition – from the repurposed and restructured concrete rubble to the speculative digital future imagining – is a commentary on the dichotomies of destruction and creation, scarcity and abundance, the tangible and the conceptual.

The installation, pieced together by two central sculptures challenge us to reconsider concrete not just as a material, but as a possible artifact of human desire and its consequent fragility. They bring forth a queer and post-human perspective, thinking about the conditions that construct our future.
By integrating physical artifacts with multimedia technologies, room69 creates a symbiotic relationship between the creator and the created. It urges us to contemplate the potential of collective action in shaping future narratives. For their latest hybrid installation, commissioned by das weisse haus, room69 responds to the idea around a reformatting of archives. How does archival material sit within the expandable walls of virtual space? How does virtuality situate itself in the cultural temporality of das weisse haus?

Within the collective’s oeuvre, notions of virtual world-building, collectivity, and an ever-expanding artist process are central to their work. For the installation, room69 meditates on loss and forgetting and creates a virtual archive as a liminal space for collecting and displaying artwork. Over the duration of a year, the collective has (will) build an immersive stage in which artworks from the collective are archived, but in doing so, are forgotten and lost to the digital ether — to be found and discovered over time.

 In the created world, we choose to intentionally lose sight of our artistic work, to blur our practice with the physical space of das weisse haus.&#38;nbsp; As we expand this world and this work, we fade between invention and reinvention, using rendering algorithms and raytracing techniques to mystify the virtual landscapes we occupy. In this process, we seek to evolve beyond the binary and fictionalize the white cube. At first glance, viewers begin at a point of nothingness, slowly moving into the endless possibilities that lie between life and fiction. Using the digital realm as an (in)complete space that grows and evolves over time, connecting to our practice of open world-building.

Hollow passageways echo into the infinite. Space erases space, as auburn hues wrap around the cold grey surface. Horizons distort into endless loops; light - flicker fades across calcified striations, hidden behind layers of warm, enticing haze. (Un)familiar objects call, towards ephemeral traces spilling across screen and into whispers.&#60;img width="2048" height="2048" width_o="2048" height_o="2048" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/a8f938e651b67b18b771021f5d1ae2bdf98e03212e2a63e583d682c1d71283a5/Room69-x-Monolog-Gallery---balancing-through-breaking-brightness.-concrete-depths-2022-5.jpeg" data-mid="162693924" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/a8f938e651b67b18b771021f5d1ae2bdf98e03212e2a63e583d682c1d71283a5/Room69-x-Monolog-Gallery---balancing-through-breaking-brightness.-concrete-depths-2022-5.jpeg" /&#62;
&#38;nbsp;
room69 slips between hybrid installation formats, combining the spatial qualities of Belgrade’s Monolog Gallery with the virtual domain of Google Maps, to create a dynamic portrait of a motion/less in-between. A seemingly endless corridor of (un)masked grit with a looming sense of unease silhouettes the virtual environment created for the exhibition. This elusive setting, generated as a parkade in its metaphoric representation distorts between a space of familiarity and discomfort at the edge of unknown feelings. In open dialogue with Monolog Gallery’s locale, room69 searches for a moment of transition, where dusk gradually fades into dark, and life begins to contrast. The works featured in the exhibition are viewable across a user-controlled path, objects that take different shape depending on your point of view.

&#60;img width="2048" height="2048" width_o="2048" height_o="2048" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/6896442316305a2b2b55828dac9e4b3fd164a812e96f35cdb21ddf5e766cbf7a/Room69-x-Monolog-Gallery---balancing-through-breaking-brightness.-concrete-depths-2022-6.jpeg" data-mid="162693937" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/6896442316305a2b2b55828dac9e4b3fd164a812e96f35cdb21ddf5e766cbf7a/Room69-x-Monolog-Gallery---balancing-through-breaking-brightness.-concrete-depths-2022-6.jpeg" /&#62;
These digital works appear outside of the screen as traces, obscure matter occupying the gallery space. These ephemeral shapes and gestures are embraced by a thick layer of sonic textures that interact with space, object and viewer. The multi-channel sound creates a dizzying comfort between controlling the movement of the virtual worldview and its counter presence in its spatial positioning.

site specific installation

exhibited at LA Artcore, Los Angeles, California
curated by Pranay Reddy + Wednesday Kim&#38;nbsp;2022

For their first US exhibition, room69 draws their attention to the ecological and spiritual essence of the forest. The collective has mapped, scanned and virtualized Austria’s Donau Auen Nationalpark and extended the scans into a fragmented space coinciding with their relationship to technology, humanity and nature.
 &#60;img width="1920" height="1280" width_o="1920" height_o="1280" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e8f4b480725477667663bfd419de4eaf12b4cf099c3ae4c1cfbf43aaa740e16d/LA69_by_Stassie-1.jpg" data-mid="152228572" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e8f4b480725477667663bfd419de4eaf12b4cf099c3ae4c1cfbf43aaa740e16d/LA69_by_Stassie-1.jpg" /&#62;

The scan acts as a foregrounding backdrop for a discursive exchange and serves as a template for future interactions between the natural environment exhibiting the possibility of hybrid systems that incorporate both nature and technology. In rethinking the relationship between humanity, technology and the natural, the role of the imagined provides an alternative vocabulary with which to reorient our approach to new eco-realities. It encourages us to speculate on a plausible yet unfamiliar version of the world we live in today. The imagined questions our positions and redefines established norms that weaken our evolving planet, reorienting our place and perspectives. We deploy this technique to consider the many interactional experiences and relationships that exist in both natural settings and digital technology. When we engage with these technologies, we see an opportunity to highlight nature’s myriad ways of recombining and surviving beyond the norms and expectations imposed by humans.
	&#60;img width="3264" height="4912" width_o="3264" height_o="4912" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/9e23e025a3023d55f4a7551c5c796ce2ca2391726f3baaf6decee31d11693da3/LA69_ownpics_cam_69-05.jpg" data-mid="152228581" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/9e23e025a3023d55f4a7551c5c796ce2ca2391726f3baaf6decee31d11693da3/LA69_ownpics_cam_69-05.jpg" /&#62;

In this installation (operating between the documental register of existing situations and the invention of new locations, generally simulated and ephemeral) a multi-channel projection of a fragmented 3D Scanned natural environment provides the collective, room69, with the possibility of looking at nature from a different angle.&#60;img width="1920" height="1280" width_o="1920" height_o="1280" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/852d9611aa2b03610c7052d7ac385948f1e21c4e034685a41ebbd28c56077d5c/LA69_by_Stassie-3.jpg" data-mid="152228574" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/852d9611aa2b03610c7052d7ac385948f1e21c4e034685a41ebbd28c56077d5c/LA69_by_Stassie-3.jpg" /&#62;

	While the natural space remains untouched, the virtual world created via fragmented data of the Nationalpark can be explored through pathways in the exhibition space which suggest new perspectives on how the natural space can be viewed while preserving its natural state. Further, the conserved world can be experienced via Google Street View, unfolding via Google Maps over the duration of the exhibition and forever online located at the geotag of the exhibition space at LA Artcore in the Brewery Annex in Los Angeles.
The scans and thus the translation process were guided by an expert of the National Park, who offered her gaze at details which makes the forest as a Habitat unique. The Danube National Park preserves Central Europe's last large floodplain landscape on more than 9,600 hectares. With its establishment in 1996, the habitat was placed under sustainable international protection. Since then, nature has been able to develop here free from economic constraints. The riparian forests are developing into species-rich forest wilderness. According to the motto "Free river - Wild Forest", the original natural character is being restored to the floodplain landscape. Rare animal and plant species have returned or improved their populations.

room69 aims to move towards new ecologies and reimagined futures or eco-realities, using strategies of observation, interaction, speculation, queer tactics, fiction and history. The installation also combines raw earth scattered rhythmically across the gallery room, with an augmented sense of belonging, fresh scent and a layered visual experience, extended through sculptural elements. The sound installation provided by Roman Fleischmann expands the experience of the virtual world by using the technique of granular synthesis over Material and Data collected in the Forest. The half-human controlled process suggests a glitched glimpse of the audio atmosphere in the new digital environment.&#38;nbsp;

When we experience an environment in a manner that is fully aware of its perceptual depth and richness and in which perception dominates, we are in an aesthetic realm. A place where the imagined can exist.

The Porto di Fano, with its nuances and connotations of „land“, „infrastructure“, and „water“, serves as a real template for the collective room69‘s digital intervention, which is accessible via Google Street View.

The harbour was captured by a drone. These recordings were constructed as a 360-degree world and thus became the virtual landscape for the digital artistic works of the collective. To make this digital world accessible, the material was fed into Google Maps to make the artistic intervention part of the Streetview function.

The digital landscape, even if uncontrolled and unmanaged, attracts the atmosphere of the physical spaces in which it is em- bedded - it plays with imagination, deconstruction and maritime metaphors. A virtual topology that mimics its physical counterpart can, like an organism, reconstruct its history, objects, space, and environment. The artistic works within the digital topology of Porto di Fano capture time and space, weather, scents, while offering a distorted and fantastic glimpse into the past.

Cristian Anutoiu offers queer nonbinary avatars comfort between the fibers of virtuality, both expanding and distorting the environ- ment they inhabited, as florishing within it. Brooklyn Pakathi is seeding ideas, to leave traces of newness across a vast landscape of decay and change, while Hannah Neckel sculptures are leaking through the fabrics of reality, arising of the virtual ocean from dreams into the internet, glimmering in the dark, illuminating the path, guiding you towards a possible Utopia. Josepha Edbauer ́s horses rebel against their given narratives, are reared up, while luminosing historical aspects of the port and leading to Luke Dworschak whoms cloudlike iterations of scanned bodies are dissolving in light and leaving behind all matter. Maximilian Prags works are based on the term recursion, borrowed from computer programming. As an object, like a moebius loop, several distor- tions are placed in the exhibition setting, awaiting for their own answer, while trying to process, cursed by their own existence.

		<description>nowhere in particular

group exhibition2022 Raum D, q21 Museumsquatier, Vienna (AT)

&#60;img width="6000" height="4000" width_o="6000" height_o="4000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/72008c9b679a4e26bcdd9cdf644d1d997f48f59baa40b27253e0cfd3095d463a/nowhereinparticular_mariabelova_37.jpg" data-mid="146244517" border="0" alt="installation shot by Maria Belova" data-caption="installation shot by Maria Belova" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/72008c9b679a4e26bcdd9cdf644d1d997f48f59baa40b27253e0cfd3095d463a/nowhereinparticular_mariabelova_37.jpg" /&#62;

Fifteen international artists meditate on the oversimulation of possible futures in their practices ranging from sculptural phygital installations to speculative research-based bio-art and performances. Offering a glimpse into the future, Mary Maggic’s installation deals with plastic pollution and its queering of our bodies. At the same time, Alma Bektas’ intricate floral interventions invite on-lookers to dream of a possible future and engage in romantic envisioning, furthermore, Martina Menegon’s complex digital assemblages of physical and virtual elements situate the body within a hybrid disembodiment of self.
&#38;nbsp;&#60;img width="6000" height="4000" width_o="6000" height_o="4000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/c6ae90df393fbc58484dfd4001840c6f943f3af55e3c3dc0fb3bdf2f073ee65f/nowhereinparticular_mariabelova_4.jpg" data-mid="146244552" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/c6ae90df393fbc58484dfd4001840c6f943f3af55e3c3dc0fb3bdf2f073ee65f/nowhereinparticular_mariabelova_4.jpg" /&#62;

	The artists in nowhere in particular are attracted to visualising and shaping our collective imagination to realise potential futures. Seizing the opportunities in change, the speculative futures moulded by our dreams. Nowhere in particular wallows in the present. A space of incoming change, and potential, offering to open new worlds, expected and unexpected.

In the collective’s sophomore exhibition, “i wish you were not here“, the group utilized Google’s street view functionality to create a hybrid exhibition intervention and virtual experience.

&#60;img width="2878" height="1588" width_o="2878" height_o="1588" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/a99797cf391667ecf5fb1e25edd6e24f09d9ca05b9fb3476d04c09c5a2480af1/Room69-Google-Maps-Screeshots-39.51.png" data-mid="133439552" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/a99797cf391667ecf5fb1e25edd6e24f09d9ca05b9fb3476d04c09c5a2480af1/Room69-Google-Maps-Screeshots-39.51.png" /&#62;

Topologies of virtual space that mirror real-world locales have evolved inato a new architectural arena for the creation, exhibition, distribution and experiencing of art.

&#60;img width="2878" height="1588" width_o="2878" height_o="1588" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/65d158386d1fc00c0f769ca6c17182ba63f42781a8b0a89e9ae8903e8bc4b821/Room69-Google-Maps-Screeshots-06.15-min.png" data-mid="133438022" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/65d158386d1fc00c0f769ca6c17182ba63f42781a8b0a89e9ae8903e8bc4b821/Room69-Google-Maps-Screeshots-06.15-min.png" /&#62;

These virtual landscapes, however uncontrolled, uncurated, unmanaged, pull on the atmosphere of the physical areas in which they are anchored, toying at protest and deconstruction, and push beyond the appearance of “the real.”

&#60;img width="2878" height="1588" width_o="2878" height_o="1588" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b34c9ef6967ebc1ed0fac3e8634684c66d3032a508abc1a1472ebcd00481512b/Room69-Google-Maps-Screeshots-40.36.png" data-mid="133439540" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/b34c9ef6967ebc1ed0fac3e8634684c66d3032a508abc1a1472ebcd00481512b/Room69-Google-Maps-Screeshots-40.36.png" /&#62;

Virtual topologies reflective of their physical counterparts can develop a dialectic understanding of the way organism, object, space and environment mutually construct each other.
